It involves taking full responsibility for your entire well being and taking proactive steps towards attaining a wholesome life; mentally, physically, emotionally and psychologically.

This would mean that if you are living your life well, you have a lower risk of becoming ill and therefore a higher chance of enjoying a more productive life. Risk factors increase your chances of getting an injury or illness. This could include smoking, alcohol consumption, obesity, lack of exercise, unprotected sex, extreme sports, among others.

It helps you tackle everyday challenges gracefully because life will never be smooth sailing, and it also helps you live life more objectively.

  1. Take care of your body

Eat right, exercise and be in tune with your physical needs. As women, we have hormonal changes throughout the month and they do affect our bodies and mind. Understanding what your body needs is important. If your body needs rest take a break from the hustle and bustle of life and rest. Whether you’ll take a nap or go on holiday, it’s important to give your body an opportunity to rest. It’s not easy to eat healthily but you can make a deliberate choice to avoid unhealthy foods because if your body is not okay, then everything else will eventually become a struggle.

  1. Quiet the mind

Our bodies are a reflection of our minds. When you’re stressed and worried it will show on your body through the excess weight gain or loss, the dark circles beneath your eyes, dry skin, dull face, etc. look for ways to quiet the mind such as meditation, exercise, listening to inspirational music or reading inspirational books, or doing anything else that helps you keep calm.

  1. Love yourself

You’re unique from your physical appearance to your ideas, values, talents, and abilities. You are your own standard for judging yourself. Treat yourself every now and then. Forgive yourself when you fall short of your goals and be your number one cheerleader in everything you do. If you don’t know how to love yourself, you will have a hard time loving anyone else and remember, no man is an island. We all need and crave human connection.

  1. Be true to yourself

Don’t get caught up trying to be anybody else but instead work on being the best version of you. It’s hard not to compare ourselves with those we deem as being successful, but the reality is, nothing is as it seems. Even the most successful individuals in the world have their fair share of challenges. Comparing yourself to others will rob you of the opportunity to build yourself and attain your own success.
